He hate me. So, somebody’s O has got to go.

Undefeated lightweights Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Rollie Romero met at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday to announce that they will exchange punches on Dec. 5, at the Staples Center. Mayweather Promotions will present a fight card aired on Showtime pay-per-view.

It's the tail end of a solid month of top level boxing that begins in November and caps with the Davis and Romero clash.

Baltimore’s Davis (25-0, 24 KOs) defends a version of the WBA lightweight title against number one contender Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nevada. When they meet they will finally settle their differences which were clearly stated at the press conference.

“I’ve been calling ‘Tank’ out since 2017. We were supposed to spar in 2018 and he didn’t show up to the gym. He did that twice because he knew he was getting beat,” said Romero who has made his sentiments known for years.

Romero recently knocked out Anthony Legit and Avery Sparrow in the seventh round earlier this year.

Davis is not impressed.

“They only talk about his power, but this is boxing. His skills are not up to par with mine. He can’t even talk about power, because everyone knows I’m bringing it. You can shoot bullets, but how are you going to defend yourself when the bullets are shot back?” asked Davis.

The former super featherweight world titlist Davis defeated fellow world titlists Mario Barrios and Leo Santa Cruz in back-to-back fights. Both ended in knockout in the past year. Now he finally meets the fighter deriding his talent.

“I was on a mission when I fought Jose Pedraza for the title. I didn’t do the trash talking. I went in there and proved that I’m a top guy. This guy is just here to talk. I’m going to do the talking in the ring on December 5,” said Davis.

Romero finally seems content that he’s got a championship fight.

“He’s got such a big head, it’s going to be hard to miss it.,” said Romero. “He gets touched up by every opponent he faces. Leo Santa Cruz was beating him up and Barrios was getting to him too.”
