By Lauren Rodriguez

POMONA, Ca.-Marvnation Promotions kicks off the month of April with their Box Fest - Round 3. The event will take place Saturday, April 2nd at the Derby Room in Pomona, CA. Doors for the event open at 5 p.m. with the first fight beginning at 6 p.m.

The main showdown will be a super featherweight battle between Jesus Torres Beltran (5-1) and Oliver Galicia (4-0-1, 3 KO). The two will go head-to-head in a 6-round-bout, each round 3 minutes.

The two have similar stats, ensuring an explosive match to end the night.

“Most fighters are afraid to face anyone good,” said Beltran at the Derby Room in Pomona. “I want to fight the best. No matter the record.”

Galicia agrees.

“Reason I took this fight is to get to the top you have to take these chances,” said Galicia who fights out of Los Angeles.

Female clash

In the co-main event, Summer Lynn (6-0, 3KO) will be facing Haitian fighter Jaica Pavilus (2-4-1,1 KO). The two women warriors will fight in a 6-round (2 minutes) welterweight clash.

Making her professional west coast debut, Summer Lynn is fighting out of Chicago’s infamous Body Shot Boxing Club. Lynn has been training under Chicago's best, Rick Ramos, for almost a decade as she joined the gym in her early youth. Lynn’s introduction to combat sports did not begin with boxing, however it was the sport she fell in love with most.

The 20-year-old prizefighter holds an already impressive resume as a two-time Junior National Olympics champion and UBO world champion. The undefeated welterweight is making waves as she continues to rise in the ranks with a 50% knockout rate.

In support of Lynn, the undisputed welterweight champion, Jessica McCaskill (11-2, 4 KO’s) will be in attendance on Saturday's fight night.

Lynn’s history with McCaskill dates back to the very beginning of her introduction with boxing. McCaskill taught childrens boxing at Ramos’ gym which Lynn was enrolled in. The welterweight champion was more than a teacher to Lynn, serving as inspiration for a previously amateur Lynn, moving the prospects' decision to turn professional at 18-years-old.

The lineup of matches for Box Fest- Round 3 also includes a night of many more exciting matches.

A heavily anticipated match in the featherweight division, undefeated prospect Jaylen “Sky” Walker (10-0-1, 9 KOs) will face Antonio “El Alacrán” Rodriguez (15-24-3, 7 KO’s).

Fighting in the welterweight division, Zsolt Daranyi (15-1, 14 KO’s) will go against Martin Angel Perez (21-20-1, 14 KO’s) in an 8-round-bout. Daranyi’s 87% percent knockout rate implies an impending knockout for Saturday.

In the flyweight division, an undefeated Christian Robles (6-0, 2 KO’s) will face Jose Rodriguez Montemayor (5-6, 4 KO’s). The bout sparks curiosity as the two fighters have a huge age gap, Montemayor 12 years senior to Robles.

In the welterweight division, an undefeated Rashad Shahid (5-0) will be facing Daniel Perales Osorio (12-22-2).

In the super lightweight division, Sincere “Homicide” Brooks (2-0) will oppose Osmel Mayorga (2-5). The pairing looks optimistic for Brooks as Osmel has lost his last 5 bouts.

As always, Marvnation promotions will be bringing a plethora of action and entertainment on Saturday night.

Tickets for the event start at $65 and are currently on sale at Marvnation.com
