NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Ca-Two world champions Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez and Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada are battle-ready for their respective title defenses next week.

Golden Boy Promotions hosted a media workout for their upcoming fight night December 18th at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The workout took place Tuesday at Brickhouse Boxing, a newer boutique gym housing the undefeated main event fighter, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez.

The fight night boasts a lineup of 9 bouts with a main event between Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (42-0, 28 KOs) and Yunieski “The Monster” Gonzalez (21-3, 17 KOs) The two will battle in a WBA heavy lightweight eliminator.

The Mazatlán champion, Ramírez spoke to reporters with a soft voice, barely audible over the echoed sound of mitts hitting punching bags.

The light heavyweight fighter spoke about his origins into professional boxing, noting that he first learned to box due to problems and fights in the streets. Although from humble beginnings, Ramirez stated his confidence in adding to his collection of knockouts with his upcoming match against “The Monster,” predicting a knockout in the 3rd or 4th round.

“Gonzales is a very strong fighter. He’s always applying pressure. It should be an emotional and explosive fight. I think it will be over before 12 rounds,” said Ramirez.

With twice the experience and wins under his belt, this should be a breeze into a new year of goals for Ramirez.

When asked what matches might be in store for 2022, Ramirez noted that his sights are on Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol (18-0, 11 KOs) who holds a world title.

“It’s a fight that should happen because the people want it and also because he’s been mentioning me a lot. Now it's like a rivalry,” stated Zurdo.

Ramirez added that expanding his champion titles and fighting Saul Canelo Alvarez are other goals to knock off the list after his fight with Gonzalez.

“He’s [Canelo] always moving up and down the divisions. That fight should be interesting because people want to see two Mexicans fighting for the crown. if Canelo is able to raise his weight about five pounds then we will most definitely see that fight if the people and him want it.”

Co-main

In the co-main event, Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (21-0, 8 KOs) will be defending her WBA minimumweight title against Maria Santizo (9-0, 5 KOs). Santizo, fighting out of Guatemala, is 7 years Estradas senior and has only been professionally fighting for a little more than three years.

Undefeated twice as many times as her opponent, Super Bad doesn’t face a problem in the ring that she can’t out box. Always looking for her next match and remaining focused on improving her skill, the 29-year-old hasn't left the gym since her last victory.

“This camp I've just been taking the time to perfect everything that I do. Since the last fight, it's been about 4 months. I’ve been in the gym every day. I feel mentally and physically prepared. I’m excited to go in there,” Estrada said.

The East Los Angeles native is confident that her opponent won't last more than the scheduled 10 rounds and stated that she will be working shots to her opponent’s body.

“I know she [Santizo] doesn’t have the experience I have but I still have to be cautious no matter what. She’s going to go in there knowing she has to be at 120 percent to beat me… I just have to set up my shots and fight smart.”

This should be an easy victory for a speedy “SuperBad” who maintains a killer left hook. Estrada will be in the ring for the third and final time this year and has already locked in her first fight of 2022.

Estrada confirmed that her first fight of 2022 will be a unification fight with IBF champion from Costa Rica, Yokasta Valle (22-2, 9 Kos).

The bout sheet for the night of the 18th is stacked with champion fighters, with a scheduled six matches dueling for a title. Stepping into the ring for 10 rounds, Lamont Roach Jr (21-0, 8KOs) will be facing Rene Alvarado (32-10, 21 KOs) for the vacant NABA super featherweight title.

Opening DAZN’s live stream and fighting for the WBC flyweight title, WBC champion Marlén Esparza (10-1, 1 KO) will defend her title against Annabel Ortiz (31-4, 4 KOs).

Two other fighters present at Tuesday's workout were Victor Morales (15-0, 8 KOs) and Raúl Curiel (10-0, 8 KOs)

The fifth scheduled bout, Morales will be opening the Facebook live stream for Golden Boy promotions, fighting for the vacant WBC International gold featherweight title against Rudy Garcia (12-0, 2 K.O).

The third opening fight, Curiel will be fighting Kendo Castaneda for the NABF welterweight title.
