Heavyweight contenders collided with Andy Ruiz busting out in front with knockdowns of Luis Ortiz and winning a close decision on a PBC boxing card held in the real entertainment capital of the world.

Los Angeles is home to the motion picture, music and successful sports teams and saw former heavyweight world champion Ruiz show off his quick-handed power in defeating Cuba’s Ortiz in their elimination contest on Sunday at Crypto.co, Arena.

Mexican-American heavyweight Ruiz, otherwise known as “the Destroyer” vaulted in front of several knockdowns of Ortiz early in the fight. Though he could not finish the wily Ortiz, he managed to successfully build up an early lead the win by unanimous decision.

Ruiz hopes it leads to another world championship opportunity.

“I hope it doesn’t take too long,” said Ruiz. “I just want another chance at a world title.”

Aside from heavyweights, a few other top fighters also participated on the action-packed fight card including lightweight menace Isaac Cruz, super bantamweight contender Ra’eese Aleem, prospects Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela and others.

Even former champions like Abner Mares and Charles Martin competed on the Los Angeles fight card. It was a tremendous show.
