America’s Mikaela Mayer vs France’s Maiva Hamadouche in Las Vegas

WBO super featherweight world titlist Mikaela Mayer did not hesitate to accept a fight with IBF titlist Maiva Hamadouche after tossing verbal grenades at each other the past two years.

Not even a pandemic can stop them.

America’s Mayer (15-0, 5 KOs) meets France’s Hamadouch (22-1, 18 KOs) on Friday Nov. 5, at the Virgin Hotels, Las Vegas. The Top Rank fight card will be televised by ESPN.

For years each fighter accused the other of ducking and avoiding. Hamadouche claimed Mayer was offered a contract years ago but declined. Mayer said that Hamadouche declined and took a chance at beating amateur girls for a place on the Olympic team.

Here they are. Both have world titles and the winner is poised to meet the winner between Terri Harper and Alycia Baumgardner who fight on Nove.13 in England. Things are finally falling into place.

Mayer, a 2016 Olympian, recently defeated Erica Farias a former lightweight and super lightweight world champion who dropped down to 130 pounds to fight the tall American. It was a scrap and Mayer emerged victorious.

Hamadouche is a French law enforcement officer and known as a mauler and brawler who gives no quarter inside the boxing ring. An attempt to make the French Olympic team proved unsuccessful and she returned to the professional fight game. But she has only one loss and that was to another law enforcement officer Delfine Persoon six years ago. She won the IBF title five years ago in a very close fight against Bolivia’s Jennifer Salinas.

Over the past three years Mayer and Hamadouche have slung verbal taunts and accusations on social media that showed they have no love for each other. They are going to settle it in the boxing ring on Friday.

“Her record speaks for itself,” Mayer said of Hamadouche. “She is an aggressive style fighter; she comes straight at you.”

France’s Hamadouche has never fought outside of Europe.

“The “Ring” belt will be in play for this big fight which is eagerly awaited. Women's boxing will shine on November 5th in Las Vegas. I will take the belts and conquer the public who will love my boxing,” said Hamadouche on social media.

Mayer expects a tough match but also expects to emerge victorious.

“She does one thing and she does it well. Since we know that, we are able to train for that style,” said Mayer who is trained by Al Mitchell. “I see her running into some big shots.”
