Adelaida “Cobrita” Ruiz and Company on Pico Rivera Fight Card

MONTEBELLO, CA- Thursday Marv Nation promotions hosted their media event for their latest upcoming fight card, “Box Fest.” Marv Nation teams with Zamora Entertainment to bring viewers multiple bandas alongside 12 scheduled bouts. The fight night will take place Saturday, September 25th at the Pico Rivera sports arena.

Headlining the bout card will be the undefeated Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz (9-0-2) up against Nancy “Chatita” Franco (19-14-2). Franco, who had a boxing hiatus from 2018-2021 hails from Jalisco, Mexico.

Although a Marv Nation event, Golden Boy promotions fighter Joseph “JOJO” Diaz will be in attendance on fight night as well as commentating on bouts. The media event held a surprise for attendees as Diaz, who recently won the WBC interim lightweight title, was presented with his official WBC certificate. Shortly after, the champion brought an emotional moment to the stage, carrying his infant son Zenith, as he presented a WBC trainers belt to his father Joseph Diaz Sr. And thanking him for his years of guidance.

A majority of the upcoming events fighters were in attendance, closely seated together at tables alongside the center stage were;

Maricela “La Diva” Cornejo (13-5, 5 K.O.)

Ernesto “Tito” Mercado (1-0)

The lineup of warriors had few words to say about their training camp, most stating that we’d have to attend Saturday to see how well their camp went.

Marv Nations president, Marvin Rodriguez focused on the importance of highlighting female warriors. Rodriguez spoke about how much more difficult women have it not only in boxing but in life and stated,

“They [women] risk their lives too when they enter the ring… Marv Nation has your back and we're always here to support women’s boxing.”

The end of the conference opened conversation to the female fighters. The topics included questions regarding setting examples for the younger generation of women.

“It feels good. I always tend to set an example for the younger generation. I always try to talk to them and motivate them in life,” stated Ruiz.

Cornejo added,

“It’s a great feeling to show these girls when you love something you work hard. You don’t give up and you stay true to your dreams. Anything is possible in life. Love who you are at any moment.”

In addition to the female warriors present, 3-time world champion Yokasta Valle made a special appearance. Valle came to Los Angeles determined to find an opponent. The Costa Rican fighter used the conference livestream to call out Golden Boy fighter Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada (21-0, 8 K.O.).

“Soy campeona mundial y estoy lista para pelear contigo. Estaré en Los Angeles para desafiarte en persona”

“I’m a world champion and I’m ready to fight you. I'll be in Los Angeles this weekend to challenge you in person,” said Valle.

When asked why she wants to fight Estrada, Valle stated that she wants to unify the belts.

The eventful media conference foreshadows a night of surprises and excitement for Saturdays “Box Fest.”
