Dressed in Dodger Blue, Japan’s Ohtani greeted hundreds of reporters from around the world at Dodger Stadium on Thursday afternoon. Flanked by the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership and brain trust the American League Most Valuable Player mentioned several reasons to be in Dodger Blue.

Only one spelled the main reason:

“Winning a World Series,” said Ohtani to the large throng gathered. “Making sure we go to the post season and a World Series after that.”

Pound for Pound Men 2023

For years the welterweight from Nebraska insisted he was the top in his weight class. Now, Terence Crawford proved he’s the best fighter in any weight division after his emphatic knockout win this last summer in Las Vegas.

It was an eye-opening moment for boxing.

Crawford now has the ability to move up a weight division or pick and choose the best money fight available. That’s what happens when you seek out the best and vanquish them with impunity.

Others to consider are Japan’s Naoya “Monster” Inoue whose knockout win over Stephen Fulton was a highlight reel for boxing lovers. And of course, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez showed that when others doubt his abilities and hunger he can turn on the engines and batter anyone standing in his way.

Bohachuk Returns

Ireland’s Callum Walsh (5-0, 4 KO) expected to knockout his opponent Thursday night at Tom Loeffler’s 360 Promotions Hollywood Fight Nights at the Quiet Canyon Country Club in Montebello and he did just that.

After his last fight went to the score cards, Walsh was unsatisfied with his performance, “I don’t like to go the distance” he said. Thursday night, Walsh took on a fierce super welterweight from Las Vegas Delen Parsley (13-2, 4 KO) in an eight-round battle.

In the beginning rounds, Walsh looked to be in a bit of trouble as Parsley held his own including bleeding from the mouth. This was until Walsh scored the knockdown.  Parsley’s legs did not appear to be able to handle the power in next rounds, but he got up and the fight continued.
