Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada is Back in LA and Ready to Defend Title

By Lauren Rodriguez

LOS ANGELES-Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada (16-0, 6 KO’s) is excited and ready to defend her WBC Silver light flyweight title against Gretchen Abaniel (18-10, 6 KO’s). Estrada and her opponent will fight on June 13th, in a 10-round main event. The Golden Boy Promotions event will take place in Hollywood, CA at the Avalon Theater for DAZN Thursday Night Fight Nights.

“Superbad” will be defending her WBC Silver light flyweight title for the second time since she won it in November of 2018.

The 26-year old WBC Silver champion is looking forward to not only being back in the ring and fighting, but she looks forward to this fight taking place in her hometown of Los Angeles.

“My last two fights were in Mexico for the WBC [Light Flyweight title]. The second time, I defended the title. Fighting at home is so much better because all my fans, friends and family are able to come,” said Estrada.

Estrada, an orthodox fighter, has been training since March for her upcoming fight.

“My last fight was February 22nd. I took two weeks off and I’ve been in the gym since. I stay in the gym, as long as I’m doing something to keep me in shape.”

When asked about potential new tactics and improvements the fighter will be bringing into the ring against 33-year old Abaniel, Estrada stated,

“Every fight I work on something new. I could get a knockout and my trainer is still going to point out something I did wrong. Right now I’m working on my right hand and working on going to the body more.”

The East Los Angeles native, “Super Bad,” is not taking any risk when it comes to defending her title, throwing aside any chance of underestimating Philippines native, Gretchen Abaniel.

“She [Abaniel] has 28 fights, 18 wins and 10 losses, but she is a tough opponent because all her losses are to former world champions.”

After Seniesa defends her title, she wants to continue on to fight for her second title, and to continue adding even more titles to her name after that. The fighter stated that she wants her next fight to be for a world title.
