Carl Frampton (26-1) was the winner by technical knockout over Luke Jackson (16-1) stopping him in the eighth round on Saturday Aug. 18. The interim WBO featherweight title fight took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Also, heavyweight Tyson Fury (27-0) soundly defeated Francesco Pianeta (35-5-1) by unanimous decision after 10 rounds to set up a clash with American heavyweight Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight world title.


Cristopher Rosales (28-3) knocked out Paddy Barnes (5-1) with a body shot in the fourth round on Saturday Aug. 18. The WBC flyweight world title fight took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland.


Anabel Ortiz (28-3) defeated Venezuela’s Yenifer Leon (9-1) by unanimous decision after 10 rounds on Saturday Aug. 18. The WBA minimum weight title fight took place in Chihuahua. Ortiz, 32, fights out of Mexico City and is also a former WBC titlist in the same weight class. It was her 10 defense since winning it in 2013.


Bryant Jennings (24-2) survived a knockdown in the fourth and roared back with two knockdowns of Alexander Dimitrenko (41-4) to win by knockout in the eighth round on Saturday Aug. 18. The NABO, IBF International title fight took place in Atlantic City. Also, Jesse Hart (25-1) knocked out Mike Gavronski (24-3-1) in the third round to retain the NABF super middleweight title.


Shakur Stevenson (8-0) defeated Mexican veteran Carlos Ruiz (16-5-2) by unanimous decision after eight rounds on Saturday Aug. 18. The featherweight match took place in Atlantic City.


Batyr Akhmedov (5-0) knocked out Ismael Barroso (20-3-2) in the ninth round with a left cross to the body in a battle of southpaws on Saturday Aug. 18. The WBA Inter-Continental super lightweight title fight took place in Los Angeles. Akhmedov is trained by Joel Diaz.


Mykal Fox (18-0) was the winner by unanimous decision after 10 rounds versus former world champion DeMarcus Corley (51-32-1) on Saturday Aug. 18. The super lightweight clash took place in Hanover, Maryland. Also, welterweight Ivan Golub (15-1) beat Lenardo Tyner (34-13-2); and super middleweight Demond Nicholson (19-3-1) knocked out Isaac Rodrigues (25-3) in the sixth.


Andrew Cancio (19-4-2) was the winner by unanimous decision in a vicious battle against Dardan Zenunaj (14-5) on Friday Aug. 17. The super featherweight clash took place in Indio, Calif. Also, Greg Vendetti (20-2-1) out-hustled Japan’s Yoshihiro Kamegai (27-5-2) to win by decision in a super welterweight match. Plus, Luis Feliciano (8-0) knocked out Jonathan Fortuna (8-2) in the fifth round of their super lightweight contest.


Cem Kilic (11-0) won by technical knockout in the third round over Joe Amouta (7-2-1) on Friday Aug. 17. The super middleweight fight was held in Hinckley, Min. Also, Hasim Rahman Jr. (6-0) defeated Raymond Ochieng (26-22-3) by decision after six heavyweight rounds. Rondale Hubbert (12-6-1) won the vacant Minnesota state title by split decision over Markus Morris (11-4).


TJ Doheny (20-0) defeated Ryosuke Iwasa (25-3) to win the IBF super bantamweight world title on Thursday Aug. 16. The world title bout took place in Tokyo, Japan.

  

Upcoming bouts


Raymundo Beltran (35-7-1) defends the WBO lightweight world title against Puerto Rico’s Jose Pedraza (24-1) on Saturday Aug. 25 in Glendale, Arizona. ESPN will televise. Also, Isaac Dogboe (19-0) defends the WBO super bantamweight world title against Hidenori Otake (31-2-3). Plus, Mikaela Mayer (6-0) fights Edina Kiss (14-7) in a super featherweight clash.


World Boxing Super Series showcases Chris Van Herdeen (26-2-1) versus Frederick Lawson (27-1) and Brad Solomon (28-1) versus Francisco Santana (25-6-1) in the battle of welterweights tournament Friday Aug. 24, in Toronto, Canada.


Willie Monroe Jr. (22-3) meets Immanuwel Aleem (18-1-1) in a 10 round middleweight fight at Minneapolis, Minn. Also, Jamal James (23-1) fights Mahonry Montes (35-7-1) in a 10 round welterweight match on Friday Aug. 24. Fox Sports 1 will televise.


Ruben Villa (12-0) opposes Jose Santos Gonzalez (23-5) in the main event on Friday Aug. 24, at Omega Products International in Corona, Calif. Also, Saul Sanchez (8-0) fights Christian Ayala (13-2) in a bantamweight clash set for eight rounds.


Francisco Ochoa (11-0) meets Eduardo Reyes (9-13) in a six round super bantamweight contest on Saturday Aug. 25, at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, Calif.  Also, Alexander Enriquez (5-0-3) fights Josafath Vazquez (5-4) in a super bantamweight match.

 

Past Results 


East L.A.’s Jonathan Navarro (15-0) knocked out Philadelphia’s Damon Allen (15-1-1) to win the battle of undefeated super lightweights in the seventh round. Navarro floored Allen several times during the fight. The referee Zachary Young seemingly failed to recognize a crucial knockdown at the end of the sixth round. A still woozy Allen was allowed to come out for the seventh round and was hunted down by Navarro and knocked out with a four-punch combination at 1:33 of the seventh round on Saturday Aug. 11.

 

Jojo Diaz (27-1) defeated WBA featherweight world titlist Jesus Rojas (26-2-2) by unanimous decision after 12 rounds on Saturday Aug. 11. The match took place in Hollywood, Calif. Diaz was ineligible to win the world title because he failed to make the 126-pound weight limit.

 

Mariana Juarez (50-9-4) defeated Japan’s Terumi Nuki (10-4) on Saturday Aug. 11 to retain the WBC bantamweight title by unanimous decision after 10 rounds. Also, Jackie Nava (34-4-3) won by technical knockout in the seventh round over Venezuela’s  Alys Sanchez. Both fights took place in Mexico City. Now Juarez and Nava will face each other.

 

Trevor Bryan (20-0) knocked out BJ Flores (34-4-1) in the fourth round on Saturday Aug. 11. The WBA interim heavyweight title fight took place in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Max Ornelas (12-0-1) was the winner over Raymond Tabugon (20-9-1) by decision after eight rounds on Friday Aug. 10. The bantamweight fight took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

 

Emilio Sanchez (16-1) won by technical knockout over Christopher Martin (30-11-3) in round five on Friday Aug. 10. The featherweight fight was held in Los Angeles, Calif. Also, Hector Tanajara (15-0) beat Emmanuel Morales (7-3) by decision after eight rounds in a lightweight match.

 

Ronica Jeffrey (16-1) was the winner by unanimous decision after six rounds versus Gabriella Mezei (9-15-3) on Friday Aug. 10. The featherweight fight was held in Jamaica, Queens, New York.

 

Elvina White (3-0) defeated Jasmine Clarkson (4-12) by decision after three rounds on Wednesday Aug. 8. The super lightweight fight took place in Hollywood, Calif.

 

Abraham Lopez (10-1-1) defeated Gloferson Ortizo (12-1-1) by unanimous decision after six rounds on Wednesday Aug. 8. The super lightweight match was held in Hollywood, Calif. Also, Ali Akhmedov (12-0) won by technical knockout in the fourth round against Jorge Escalante (9-2-1) in a weird stoppage by the referee. Despite no exchange, the referee stopped the fight in a very amateur style. Plus, Brian Ceballo (4-0) won by stoppage over Tavorus Teague (5-21-4) at the end of the second round.

 

Macarena Ledesma (9-0) defeated Paola Ibarra (5-6) by decision after 10 rounds on Saturday Aug. 11. The lightweight fight took place in Cipolletti, Rio Negro. Also, Abril Vidal (3-0) knocked out Micaela Cabral (2-2) in the third round of a super welterweight match.

 

Marcela Acuna (47-7-1) defeated Laura Griffa (16-2) by unanimous decision after 10 rounds on Friday Aug. 10. The win gives Acuna the IBF super bantamweight world title and took place in Catamarca.
