Club Nokia: Garcia and Valadez Win Heated Battles

LOS ANGELES-In the main event Juan Garcia (15-3, 5 KO’s) of Los Angeles CA, defeated Hector Serrano (13-3 5 KO’s) of Huntington Park CA. Serrano started off good landing over hand rights. He landed straight solid jabs and kept Garcia on the outside.

 

In round two, Serrano threw good combinations to the head and body, but Garcia fought back and landed good rights that seem to hurt Serrano. Garcia attacked and pushed Serrano against the ropes as he landed his punches. Serrano’s nose was gushing out blood by the third round. It slowed Serrano down but didn’t stop him from fighting back.

 

Serrano was no longer being aggressive. He was backing up more as Garcia came forward. Serrano landed good body shots, but Garcia came back with a straight right to the body followed by a right uppercut. Serrano right eye was swelling up. Serrano was no longer throwing any punches after Garcia’s body attack. He blocked the punches that he could and danced away to try to survive the last round.  Garcia was on fire tonight as he continued to dominate Serrano. The judges scored the fight 58-56  58-56 and 57-57 declaring Garcia the winner.

 

In lightweight division Ramon Valdez (10-1 5 KO’s) of East Los Angeles, defeated Noe Lopez Jr. (8-10 5 KO’s) of Nogales MEX with a unanimous decision.  Both fighters started off slow and felt each other out. Lopez landed good head and body shots but got caught with a straight right and was dropped. Valdez took Lopez to the corner and they both let go of quick combinations. Lopez stumbled after the exchange and caught himself against the ropes. Valdez came forward and tried finishing Lopez. All three judges score the fight 59-54 declaring Valdez the winner.

 

In the welterweight division Ernesto Ocon (4-0 2 KO’s) of Los Angeles CA, remained undefeated after scoring a unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Diaz (7-14 6 KO’s) of Santa Ana CA. Ocon used his jab very effectively and kept Diaz on the outside. Diaz suddenly attacks with wild and powerful punches. Ocon held his composure and was able to slip punches and use lateral movement and counter punch. Ocon landed his combinations and caught Diaz. Diaz stumbled against the ropes but quickly recovered. Diaz attacked again. Ocon landed a straight left and dropped Diaz to one knee and a glove on the canvas. He quickly got up and signaled to the ref that he had slipped. It was a clear knockdown but the referee let it go. Ocon attacked and was getting the cleaner shots. The judges scored it 40-35, 40-35, and 39-36 declaring Ocon the winner.

 

In the light heavyweight division Dion Savage (11-1 6 KO’s) of Flint MI, defeated Edward Tigs (1-2-1) of San Antonio TX with a unanimous decision.  Tigs was the less experienced fighter, but he gave Savage a good fight. Savage landed his combination and attacked the body. Savage did not allow Tigs’ southpaw style to get in the way. He continued to come forward and land. Two judges scored the fight 60-54, while the third scored it 59-55 in favor of Savage.

 

In the light weight division, Jose Sanchez (5-2 2 KO’s) of Santa Ana, CA stopped Ricardo Garcia (2-2) of La Habra CA, in a scheduled four round fight. Both Serrano and Garcia started of quick. Garcia landed straight rights and Serrano landing overhand lefts followed by body shots. Garcia was dropped twice in the second round with right hooks. The referee stepped in and put a halt to the fight at 1:11 seconds of the second round.
