Saul “Canelo” Alvarez emerged victorious by majority decision after 12 razor close and furious rounds against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin to become the new middleweight world champion on Saturday.

Alvarez powered through the vaunted strength of Golovkin to win the WBA, WBC and IBO middleweight world titles in front of more than 20,000 fans at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Despite the victory controversy ensued due to the closeness of the victory. But no matter what, Alvarez now wields the three world titles.

Canelo was able to land lead rights from the beginning of the fight against GGG. For the first few rounds that was his primary weapon that was successful. 

Golovkin summoned super human strength in rallying behind power overhand rights like this blow he connected against Canelo.

Canelo had tremendous success with uppercuts all through the entire fight.

By the fourth round Canelo was targeting the body with tremendous success. It looked like the Mexican redhead was succeeding in making GGG wilt with the success he had attacking the body.

The GGG jab was a primary weapon used throughout the fight with tremendous success against Canelo's formidable defense. It enabled GGG to offset Canelo's momentum.

GGG never surrendered and continued to trade blows with the younger Canelo until the final bell. After 12 rounds Canelo was deemed the winner by majority decision in a vastly entertain fight between the two best middleweights.
