Tim Bradley (31-1-1,12KO’S) and Jessie Vargas (26-0,9KO’S) are scheduled to collide inside the squared circle on June 27th, 2015 at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California. Twelve rounds welterweight contest for a vacant WBO belt will be televised live by HBO.

“ I see a younger me; good looking, cocky, a little bit arrogant, very confident,” said Tim Bradley about his opponent last week during a media work out at Justine Fortune’s Gym in Hollywood, California:” He thinks he is going to beat me .I felt the same way.”

A younger version of Bradley was very impressive. I just found a story I published about Timothy in Burbank Times in 2006 in which I wrote that young fighter from Palm Springs walked around the ring as if he owned it and was bound to be a champion real soon.  Not only did my prophecy come through, Bradley exceeded all expectations.

Aside from winning titles in two weight divisions; super lightweight and welterweight, Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley faced   the fighter of last decade, Manny Pacquiao twice and out boxed master boxer from Mexico, Juan Manuel Marquez. That is a remarkable resume.

“I want to be a hall of fame fighter,” said Bradley, 32:” That’s my ultimate goal. I want to leave my mark in boxing.”Palm Spring’s veteran seems to be on his way to Canastota.
Considering his extraordinary pugilistic credentials, how does Bradley motivate himself to face relatively unknown, yet undefeated young up and comer?

“ The motivation comes by letting him know that he needs to win this fight to get back to those big fights again , to those high caliber fighters like Manny Pacquiao, like Marquez,” said Bradley’s long term trainer Joel Diaz:” Motivation is this; we need to win this fight. We need to win with fashion, basically make a statement.”

Bradley made quite a statement two years ago when he squared off against Ruslan Provodnikov at Stub Hub Center in what turned out to be” The Fight of The Year “for 2013. Everyone knew that Palm Spring’s champion could box. What we didn’t know is that he was willing to die in the ring and almost did that night to get the victory. Instead of boxing his way to an easy win, Bradley thrilled fans when he engaged in a war in the trenches with one of the hardest hitters and one of the most aggressive fighters in boxing today.

Fans adulation came at steep rice; Bradley left a piece of himself in the ring that memorable night. He complained of blurred vision and headaches for several months afterwards. They decided to box next time out and Bradley registered one of the most impressive performances of his professional career out boxing professor of sweet science, Juan Manuel Marquez.
What is the strategy for a fight with Vargas? Is Bradley going to brawl or box?

“Just to be smart,” replied coach, Joel Diaz.
“I don’t need a game plan for this fight,” said Bradley:” I know what I am capable of doing. I’ll figure it out once I get in the ring.”

Considering the venue fans would love to witness another nail biter.

“Jessie Vargas is the type of fighter that could make me go there,” Bradley said:” Like I always say, it’s a war ground. Jessie knows he can’t out box me, so I think Jessie is going to try to come get some and I can’t wait. I love it. I am fired up just thinking about it.”
